Four Things to do in Cedar Park

Steam Train!
Travel on a steam train for a day! The historic train sets off from Cedar Park in the morning and has a few hour layover at the small Hill Country town of Burnet. In addition to scheduled days out, there are special events likeĀ murder mystery trips and days out with Thomas the Tank Engine.
- Spelunking! There are caves in Cedar Park, and the Discovery Well Cave Preserve has a wealth of information about local flora and fauna.
- Visit the site of the Cedar Park Event Center. This will be far more fun when construction finishes in 2010. For now you can see the event center in progress at 183A and New Hope Road.
- Visit Lake Travis - there are many attractions on, off and in the water at Lake Travis - formed by the dam across the Colorado River. Volente Beach has a water park that is well worth the short drive from Cedar Park.

Posted on April 11th, 2009 No commentsConstruction starts across the US are significantly down, yet Cedar Park is still growing in population. Families are drawn by the great schools, the newer homes and the low crime rates, and are soon going to be short of options.

If you look at the chart on the right from this impactnews article on Cedar Park, you can see that the population is growing, and there are less new home starts.
With the historically low interest rates we have right now we might expect a move from rent to buy, especially considering the first time home buyers tax credit available for homes closed by the end of November 2009.

Cedar Park, Texas is a growing town in Williamson County. It’s growing pretty quickly - in the 1990 census the population was a little over 5,000 people. Ten years later it had grown to over 26,000. That’s pretty rapid expansion!
This means that the overwhelming majority of homes for sale in Cedar Park, TX have been built in the last two decades. The chart below shows the distribution of year built for homes sold since the start of 2006.
Approximately half of the recently sold homes have been built after 2000.
What does mean for the home buyer in Cedar Park? Well, lead based paint is less of an issue - only 2% of the homes sold in the last three years were built before 1978.
